The University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka has been included for the first time in the prestigious The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, with a ranking between 401-500. The Rankings include 1,400 universities in 92 countries.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, founded in 2004, provides the definitive list of the world’s best universities. the University of Peradeniya and the University of Colombo were the only two Sri Lankan universities made the list this year.
This was the first time the University of Peradeniya included in this list, but in last year’s rankings, the University Of Colombo was included in 1000+ category.

The 2020 list comprises 56 Indian universities, 16 Malaysian universities, 13 Thailand universities, six Indonesian universities and two Singapore universities. The University of Oxford is the highest-ranked university in the world and the California Institute of Technology US, Cambridge UK ranked 2nd and 3rd in the list.
