The Cabinet decided to increase the retirement age of all government doctors to 61 years. The Joint Cabinet Spokesperson, Dr Ramesh Pathirana stated this today (21), during the media briefing to announce Cabinet decisions. The government medical doctors used to retire upon attaining 60-years of age. The decision may have with an aim to meet the shortage of doctors in the country.
Further, he added a committee to consider raising the retirement age of other public sector employees as well.
