Tax revenue reaches Rs 2.04 trillion, up 24% from 2025

The Inland Revenue Department reported Rs 2.04 trillion collected by Sept 30, 2026 – a 24% rise over the same period last year and 85% of its 2026 target.

As of September 30, 2026 the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has collected Rs 2,040 billion in tax revenue, a 24 percent increase over the comparable period in 2025, the department said.

In the same nine‑month window in 2025 the IRD recorded Rs 1,642 billion, meaning the 2026 figure is Rs 398 billion higher.

The department also disclosed that the Rs 2,040 billion represents 85 percent of its annual revenue target for 2026.

These numbers are provisional, covering tax collections up to the end of September 2026 and are based on the IRD’s internal reporting.
