Sri Lanka deports foreigners on tourist visa doing business

⭕ Locals sub-letting properties to tourists doing business is a problem, with Ukrainian, Russian and Israeli nationals on tourist visas doing business in Sri Lanka's coastal towns

⭕ Neither employment nor self-employment, paid or unpaid, are permitted under a tourist visa, with some tourists operating in Sri Lanka for over five years.

⭕ The crackdown follows the government identifying such ventures as vulnerabilities in the country’s revenue generation, having a negative impact on local enterprises
