400,000 coconut plants to be given to families in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 to boost production

⭕ Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 will distribute 400,000 coconut saplings among 200,000 families to increase coconut production

⭕ 2 saplings will be given to each family for free to help them grow coconuts

⭕ A 250 million nut crop shortfall is expected in the first half of 2025 due to low coconut production

⭕ The Sri Lanka Coconut Research Institute forecasts a harvest of 1,407 million nuts in the first half of 2025

⭕ By 2023, the harvest was down to 2,950 million nuts from 3,350 million nuts, a significant decline in coconut production
