🇱🇰 Dengue Cases Near 5,000 per Week

⭕ 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka recorded 41,921 suspected dengue cases by Week 24 of 2026, up 58.3% from 26,487 cases during the same period in 2025.

⭕ The first 24 weeks of 2025 averaged about 1,104 cases per week. Week 24 of 2026 recorded 4,824 cases, more than 3.6 times the 1,334 cases reported in Week 24 of 2025.

⭕ Dengue spreads through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Empty water from pots, tyres, gutters and containers. Use mosquito repellent, nets and clothing that covers the skin.

⭕ Seek medical advice for high fever, severe headache, eye pain, nausea, vomiting or body pain. Severe stomach pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding, breathing difficulty or extreme weakness require urgent hospital care.
