✈️ Ex‑SriLankan Airlines Chair Nishantha Wickramasinghe arrested by CIABOC — remanded till July 1

⭕ Former SriLankan Airlines chairman Nishantha Wickramasinghe arrested on June 27, 2025 by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

⭕ He is brother of former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and brother‑in‑law to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

⭕ Arrest relates to alleged irregularities in aircraft procurement during his tenure as chairman.

⭕ Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court remanded him until July 1, 2025.

He faces three corruption charges:

⭕ Causing loss of $4,512 by diverting January 2014 Kuala Lumpur–Katunayake flight.

⭕ Causing loss of $19,160 by off‑loading 75 passengers on Maldives–France flight via Sri Lanka in January 2014.

⭕ Misappropriating Rs. 1.25 million from public funds for a December 2014 election campaign event at Katunayake.
