🚌 Sri Lanka cut bus fares by just 0.55% this July. Why not keep them unchanged?

⭕ Bus fares in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 are determined by a 12-component formula (fuel, wages, maintenance, insurance, etc.). that calculates operating cost changes.

⭕ Cost changes ≥ 4% → immediate fare adjustment.

⭕ Cost changes < 4% → carried forward to the July 1st annual review.

⭕ At the July review, there’s no minimum threshold. Any calculated change, however tiny, must be implemented. That’s why we got 0.55%.
