🚨 IRD Deputy Commissioner Caught Taking Rs. 50K Bribe to Clear Rs. 1.1M Tax Arrears 🇱🇰

A top Inland Revenue Department 🇱🇰 official was arrested for accepting a bribe to clear outstanding tax dues:

⭕ Outstanding tax arrears: Rs. 1.1 million – Dematagoda-based business

⭕ Bribe demanded: Rs. 100,000 for issuing tax clearance

⭕ Final deal: Rs. 50,000—negotiated by businessman from Piliyandala

⭕ Initial Rs. 42,000 paid on July 3, 2025

⭕ Final Rs. 8,000 paid on July 7—arrest made at IRD Office, Jawatte Road, Colombo.

⭕ Suspect to be produced before Colombo Magistrate Court.
