⭕ Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake told Parliament that Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is paying $800,000 per month as a penalty for an Airbus aircraft that was never delivered.
⭕ According to the minister, the fraud began under the Rajapaksa government during the purchase of the Airbus aircraft. Officials during the Wickremesinghe administration also misused funds while attempting to cancel the deal.
⭕ Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is also paying $275,000 per month for the lease of a new Airbus A330-200 from France 🇫🇷.
⭕ The newly leased A330-200 is the first wide-body aircraft added to Sri Lankan Airline's fleet in 8 years.
