133 Electors, 5 Continents, 1 Pope: Election Process for Next Pope Commences with Papal Conclave in Vatican City 🇻🇦

⭕ 133 cardinal electors from 70 countries across 5 continents have gathered in Vatican City, forming the largest conclave in history.
⭕ When the papal seat becomes vacant—through death or resignation—the Roman Catholic Church initiates an ancient and secretive process: the Papal Conclave.
⭕ Only cardinals under the age of 80 are eligible to vote in accordance with Catholic Church rules.
⭕ Cardinals are sequestered in the Domus Sanctae Marthae and vote in the Sistine Chapel under strict secrecy.
⭕ Voting occurs up to 4 times daily until a candidate receives a two-thirds majority—currently 89 votes.
⭕ Smoke signals indicate progress: black smoke = no pope, white smoke = new pope elected.
⭕ Upon acceptance, the new pope selects a name and the Vatican announces: “Habemus Papam” — We have a pope.
⭕ According to church observers this year’s papal conclave is predicted to be one of the most divided in recent history, with no clear frontrunner among the 133 cardinal electors.
As a result, the election could extend for several days as factions within the Church work to reach consensus on the next pope.
