Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Introduces Online Traffic Fine Payment System

⭕ Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Police launches a digital spot fine system under the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, currently being piloted in 12 areas (from Kurunegala to Anuradhapura) from April 11–30, 2025.

⭕ The system allows police officers to issue instant fines, and drivers can pay immediately through GovPay. Once the payment is made, the driver's license is returned on the spot — no need to visit a police station afterward.

⭕ This enhances transparency, reduces opportunities for corruption, and provides major convenience for the public.

⭕ After the pilot phase, the system will be evaluated based on public feedback before nationwide implementation.

⭕ The GovPay platform enables citizens to make various government payments digitally — including fines, taxes, and service fees — promoting digital governance in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰.
