Sri Lanka Customs achieves a record Rs. 1.515 trillion in 2024 🇱🇰

⭕ Recorded Rs. 1.515T in 2024 (highest-ever revenue collected), close to
the govt target of Rs. 1.533T.
⭕ While Customs appeared to slightly miss the rupee-denominated revenue target, they actually exceeded the target in real terms when accounting for rupee appreciation against the USD.
⭕ Since Customs duties are based on CIF value, rupee appreciation (~9% YoY) reduced rupee-denominated revenue by Rs. 100-150B.
⭕ Historically, rupee depreciation boosts reported revenue by 5-10% annually, a trend absent in 2024.
