🚗 Sri Lanka Lifts 4-Year Ban on Vehicle Imports 🇱🇰

The Sri Lankan government has lifted the temporary suspension on vehicle imports under Gazette No. 2415-35, effective in phases.

⭕ December 14, 2024: Import of passenger buses and special-purpose vehicles (e.g., fire trucks, mobile workshops).

⭕ February 1, 2025: Import of personal vehicles begins.

⭕ Vehicles must meet age limits: Personal vehicles: Not older than 3 years; Buses & special-purpose vehicles: 3–10 years, depending on type.

⭕ Importers are required to register vehicles within 90 days. Delays in registration will incur fines amounting to 3% of the CIF value per month, capped at a maximum of 45%.
