🚨 Sri Lanka 🇱🇰: No Electricity Tariff Change Until 2025!

PUCSL confirmed no tariff changes this year due to delays by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
⭕ PUCSL rejected CEB’s September tariff proposals as inadequate; revisions were due by Nov 8.
⭕ CEB missed multiple deadlines, including Nov 22, and sought 2 more weeks. PUCSL extended the final deadline to Dec 6.
⭕ Even if submitted, reviews will take 6-8 weeks, pushing tariff changes to 2025.
⭕ This isn't the first time the CEB has submitted incomplete or inadequate proposals, raising concerns over delays potentially aimed at sustaining higher charges for profitability.
⭕ In the meantime, The Ceylon Electricity Board Workers’ Union has demanded the CEB management to distribute bonuses to employees before December 10, citing the board’s profitability.
⭕ Bonuses Must Be Earned, Not Gifted . They should be linked to measurable efficiency, productivity, and performance. The gov must establish clear KPIs and quantifiable targets for all state agencies before approving bonuses. Profitability arising from favorable weather or operational inefficiencies should never be rewarded.
