The United States spans multiple time zones, leading to staggered poll closing times on Election Day.

⭕ For instance, polls in parts of Indiana and Kentucky close as early as 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), while those in California close at 11 p.m. EST.
⭕ By 7 p.m. EST, polls close in several key states, including Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, and Vermont. Early results from these states can provide initial insights into the election's trajectory.
⭕ In a decisive election, if a pivotal state like Pennsylvania reports early, and Virginia shows a clear trend, the overall outcome might become evident sooner. And race will be called on election day.
⭕ However, in a closely contested race, the timeline extends. States such as Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, and Georgia may require several days or even weeks to finalize their counts, especially due to the high volume of mail-in ballots and stringent verification processes. Therefore, it's possible that the definitive results won't be immediately clear on election night.
