📢 CBSL Updates Loan-to-Value (LTV) Ratios for Vehicle Loans

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has revised the maximum LTV caps on all motor-vehicle financing, effective 18 July 2025.

⭕ Cars, SUVs & Vans: LTV ↑ from 50 % → 60 % for brand-new vehicles

⭕ Three-wheelers: LTV ↑ from 25 % → 50 % (boosting affordability)

⭕ Commercial vehicles: LTV ↓ from 90 % → 80 % (tighter risk control)

⭕ Electric vehicles: 90 % preferential LTV removed; now capped at 60 % (aligns EVs with other new cars)

⭕ All vehicles older than one year: unchanged at 70 %

⭕ These changes will decrease the ability of a person to buy an EV and increase the ability to buy three-wheelers and other vehicles.

⭕ While most countries are promoting more sustainable EV adoption, Sri Lanka’s adjustment takes the opposite direction.

⭕Sri Lanka's Vehicle dealership owners and traditional vehicle importers stand to benefit from this change.
