📉 NPP Government Halts SriLankan Airlines Privatization! 🇱🇰🛬
⭕ The NPP government has abandoned plans to privatize SriLankan Airlines, citing tourism development as a key reason.
⭕ The previous Cabinet agreed to take over debts of US $ 510 million debts of the national carrier in a move to attract a private investor.
⭕ According to industry sources, a close associate of Dhammika Perera is tipped to become the next Chairman of the airline.
This will be the first truly terrible move by the NPP government.
⭕ Airlines are notoriously difficult to manage, even for seasoned operators. Governments cannot effectively run sophisticated, highly capital-intensive, and continuously evolving businesses like commercial airlines.
