How Will Climate Change Impact Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 ?

⭕️ Climate predictions are inherently uncertain, as different models can forecast a range of possible futures. One model, which uses Sri Lanka’s average temperature of 26.7°C in the base year 2000, provides the following predictions under low and high emission scenarios:
⭕️ Low-Emissions Future: In the best-case scenario, if the world reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly, Sri Lanka's temperature could increase by only 1.1°C by 2050. 🌱
🔥 High-Emissions Future: In the worst-case scenario, where emissions remain high, we could see a 1.8°C increase by 2050. This small difference in degrees could have massive impacts!
🌧️ Rainfall patterns will also change, with some regions getting more rain and others less. Unpredictable factors like El Niño & the Indian Ocean Dipole add to these changes.
⭕️ 🌾 As a nation whose economy is centered around agriculture, a major challenge will be to maintain consistent and quality agricultural yields amidst unpredictable weather patterns.
⭕️Climate change is a global challenge that will impact nations worldwide, extending far beyond the borders of Sri Lanka. The impact of this challenge will depend on global emissions reduction and local adaptation strategies.
⭕️The choices we make and the actions we take today will play a pivotal role in shaping the world we inhabit tomorrow.
