🚨 Another Day, Another CESS Cut

⭕ Govenment reduced the cess on imported cement from Rs. 5 to Rs. 4 per kilo for colored/white cement, and from Rs. 8 to Rs. 7 for 50kg packages.

⭕ Despite IMF guidelines to end arbitrary taxes like CESS and SCL, they continues to remain in place.

⭕ Overnight tax changes, prone to corruption, are still made whenever the finance minister feels like it– remember the sugar tax scam?

⭕ Cement imports (in MT) to Sri Lanka are at least 5x higher than sugar imports.
