🚨 Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 to Cancel Non-Expiring Driving Licenses by Year-End

⭕ Over 2.3M driving licenses (1.1M heavy vehicle + 1.2M regular) without expiration dates will be canceled by the end of 2024.
⭕ License holders will have 6 months in 2025 to obtain new licenses with an expiration date.
⭕ Concerns over physical fitness as many were never tested, especially for heavy vehicles.
⭕ Given the history of the department, this might create one of the largest backdoor systems for issuing medical certificates to those who fail the medical exam, as many older people may not pass the standard medical check-up currently required to obtain a license.
