🚨 Clarification on Driving Licence Updates in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

⭕ The Ministry of Transport & Highways has walked back the comments made by the Commissioner General of DMT Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe about cancelling no expiry driving licences by labeling the statement as a 'rumor'.
⭕ According to ministry licenses without expiry dates will not be canceled. Instead, a system update is planned to be completed by year-end to gather information on licence holders.
⭕ The first driving licence in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 was issued in the 1960s. Since then, approximately 12.3 million licences have been issued. Older licences do not have expiry dates, allowing them to be used indefinitely without renewal. As a result, the information for about 2 million licence holders remains outdated.
