🚍 The Hippie Trail

From the mid-1950s to the late 1970s, the Hippie Trail was an iconic journey for the hippie subculture, traversing from Europe to Thailand 🇹🇭 via Afghanistan 🇦🇫, Pakistan 🇵🇰, India 🇮🇳, Nepal 🇳🇵, Sri Lanka 🇱🇰, and Bangladesh 🇧🇩.
⭕ Travel cheap: The aim was to spend as little as possible to extend time on the road.
⭕ Popular stops: Major cities on the route had hotels, restaurants, and cafés catering to Western travelers.
⭕ Cultural exchange: Hippies engaged more with locals compared to traditional tourists.
⭕ End of the trail: The Iranian Revolution and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the late 1970s brought the trail to an end.
