80% of Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 students seek voting advice from parents - study

Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake revealed:

⭕ In a 2023 survey, 80% of 250 Sri Lankan university students surveyed sought parents' advice on voting.

⭕ He pointed out this contrasts sharply with past decades when students influenced their parents' votes and says it reflects a decline in political discussions within student communities.

Note: In our recent surveys, we asked the respondents about their parents' voting intentions. In younger voter groups, their voting intentions significantly differ from those of their parents.
