Rs. 252,500 per kilo (USD 835): Ceylon tea ☕ enters Guinness World Records

⭕ Sri Lanka’s 🇱🇰 New Vithanakande Tea Factory recognized by Guinness World Records after its premium Ceylon Black Tea (FFExSp) was sold at the highest price ever recorded for tea.

⭕ The tea was sold in 🇯🇵 Japan at Rs. ¥125,000 per kg ( Rs. 252,500 | USD 835 ), setting the Guinness World Record 🥇 for the most expensive tea ever sold.

⭕ OP1 (Orange Pekoe 1) is a top-grade black tea made from long, wiry leaves from the bud. It is known for delicate taste and golden liquor, produced by hand-picking and careful rolling.

⭕ Regular OP1 trades at USD 10–50/kg, while rare specialty batches can reach USD 100–600/kg.

⭕ This Guinness recognition elevates 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka’s standing by positioning Ceylon Tea at the top end of the global luxury tea market.
