Sri Lanka supposed to play their first tour game in South Africa today (20/12/2020) vs Cricket South Africa Invitation XI. But according to @ESPNcricinfo the game is postponed. This is probably due to Covid-19 concerns raised due to two SA fast bowlers testing positive for the COVID just a day before the team is due to enter a bio-bubble.
No official word yet from Cricket South Africa regarding the postponement of the practice game. But sources say South African health authorities are going to conduct PCR test on 22nd of December and if more players find positive for Covid-19 the tour will be postponed indefinitely.
Earlier England's tour of South Africa has been called off following the outbreak of Covid-19 among both teams' camps and staff at their hotel. The three ODIs have officially been postponed, with a possibility they could be played at a later date.
Sri Lanka has already expressed some nervousness over the tour as they host England in a money-spinning two-Test home series that starts just seven days after the completion of the second Test against South Africa. That second Test takes place in Johannesburg from Jan. 3.
