Every polling division in Matara district was won by SLPP. And they were able to win 6 seats out of 7 in Matara. Other seat went to SJB. Despite getting 7.76% of the votes, NPP is unable to secure a seat from the district. That means Former COPE committee chairman Sunil Hadunnetththi to miss out the Parliament again from Matara district.
In last time JVP brought him back to the parliament from the National List.
