Binance hit by a $6.3 BILLION hack, potentially the largest crypto theft in history

⭕ Binance is the world's largest centralized crypto exchange, handling $2.13 trillion in September, including around 40% of spot trading across 11 major exchanges.

⭕ Most of the theft occurred in just 20 minutes.

⭕ Around $3 billion has been frozen, mainly by stablecoin issuers. The remaining $3.3 billion is still in the hackers' hands and harder to recover.

⭕ North Korean hackers are suspected.

⭕ The theft is approximately four times larger than the previous record, the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025.

⭕ Binance says users' funds are safe and it will cover all losses through its $1 billion emergency fund (SAFU) and company resources.
