⭕️According to the 2024 housing census, Delft had only 893 housing units. When it comes to flood relief of Rs. 25,000 funds were released (for distribution) for 1,216.

When handing out taxpayer money, it is better to be correct than fast.!

If funds are not dispersed soon: "ඉස්සර නම් එහෙම නෙමෙයි ගංවතුර එන්න සතියකට කලින් ආධාර දුන්න" When funds are quickly given: "Better correct than fast"

Legal action must also be taken against government officers who misuse public funds and exploit citizens through fake claims and corruption they are equally responsible for the suffering of innocent people.

Even my name was on the list where I was not affected by floods. Neighbors who got the 25,000 called us and said come and get it as the name was there.. But gracefully rejected..(of course there was water on my land but nothing entered the house)..

Census is not accurate as no one came to collect the yellow card from our house to date. Also for flood relief even annexes, separate units of the same house if used by multiple families might have been considered as a unit (?) and from early 2024 for Nov 2025 new houses could have added (but could that be by 323?) How about others DS?

  Lakmali Gunasekara If there were multiple occupants families, the payment was supposed to be equally divided among them. That was the policy. According to the 2012 census, Delft had 930 homes, so the population there is going down. The point we are trying to make is that Sri Lanka has a culture where relief money or government money is treated as free money, and people who do not deserve it still take it. That has to stop, and that culture needs to change. The issue is that in some areas they do not check eligibility. They simply include everyone to receive the relief. This is not limited to the North. It is happening in the South too. This has to stop, and there needs to be more care and responsibility in handing of these relief funds.
